Nanjing Local Food Tasting Tour: Laomendong & Beyond

Taste your way through Nanjing's historic quarters — 10–15 dishes across four venues, from Laomendong's famous dumpling soup and salted duck to candied lotus rice.

Nanjing, China 3 Hours (Evening) Typically 6-8 guests

Overview

Nanjing has been a capital of China for centuries, and its food carries that history — refined, comforting and proudly local. This small-group tasting tour leads you through the old quarters to the dishes that define it.

Over about three hours you'll sample ten to fifteen traditional dishes across three restaurants and a dessert shop, from the famous dumpling soup of Laomendong to Nanjing's celebrated salted duck, red-braised pork, scallion-oil noodles and candied lotus rice.

Your guide leads you between Xinjiekou and the lantern-lit lanes of Laomendong, weaving the stories of Nanjing's culinary culture between bites and pointing out the contrasts of the modern and the old city.

You'll finish on something sweet — moon cakes and candied lotus rice — with a pot of Longjing green or Fujian black tea to round things off.

It's a generous, walking tasting tour with a small group and a city's worth of flavour. Come hungry.
