What is Asia Street Eats?
Asia Street Eats is an online travel agency (OTA) specialising in authentic food tours across Asia. We connect travellers with selected local tour operators who share our passion for real, regional food culture. In addition, we operate some original tours designed and managed directly by our team.
How do I book a tour?
You can browse available food tours directly on our website and complete your booking online using our secure checkout system. Once payment is confirmed, you'll receive an email with your booking details and the vendor's contact information. For special requests, or to arrange a private or group booking, reach out through our contact form or email info@asiastreeteats.com.
Who actually runs the tours?
Most tours on our platform are operated by independent local vendors who live and breathe their city's food culture. We carefully vet all our partners for quality, authenticity and safety. When you book a third-party experience, the vendor runs the tour, while we handle the booking, payment and customer support. Tours marked 'ASE Original' are managed directly by our in-house team.
How do you select the vendors?
Unlike OTA giants where anybody can list a tour even without experience and appear higher in search just by raising commissions, we work on a smaller scale and personally test every single vendor before proposing a collaboration. By keeping our commissions lower than the industry average, we attract and select only the best partners — professionals proud to deliver quality over quantity.
Are the tours private or shared?
It depends on the experience. Some tours are small-group experiences (usually 6–8 guests), while others can also be booked privately for a more personalised outing. Each tour page clearly states whether it's private, small group, or private-only. If in doubt, just ask, and we'll confirm availability and options.
Are there minimum guest numbers on your tours?
Depending on the tour, our minimum is usually 2 guests. In the unlikely event a tour doesn't reach the required number, we'll contact you to either move your booking to another date or offer a full refund, whichever suits you best. To find out the number of guests on a particular departure, contact us at info@asiastreeteats.com.
What's your cancellation policy?
Cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled start time receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours, or no-shows, are non-refundable. If a vendor or Asia Street Eats cancels a tour due to weather, safety or unforeseen circumstances, you'll be offered a full refund or the option to reschedule. We are not responsible for additional expenses such as transport or accommodation resulting from such cancellations.
What about food allergies or dietary restrictions?
Please let us know in advance about any allergies, intolerances or dietary restrictions when booking. We and our partners will always try to accommodate you where possible. Each tour page gives basic dietary information, but given the nature of street food, cross-contamination cannot be 100% avoided and traces of various ingredients may appear in dishes. In certain cases you may be asked to sign a waiver, and we strongly recommend bringing any medication you may require. By joining, you acknowledge that we cannot guarantee allergen-free food, and you participate at your own discretion.
What's included in the price?
Each tour description lists exactly what's included, but typically all food tastings are included — no surprise add-ons or hidden fees. Drinks, transport between stops, or additional items may or may not be covered depending on the experience. Every tour page is transparent so you know exactly what's included before booking.
How are payments processed?
Payments are handled through secure, industry-standard systems such as Stripe or Square. All transactions are encrypted and processed in Hong Kong Dollars (HKD) or US Dollars (USD), although prices may be displayed only in USD for convenience. We never store your credit-card information, and our payment partners comply with PCI-DSS security standards used by major global banks.
Do I need travel insurance?
We strongly recommend travel insurance covering medical expenses, trip cancellations and loss of personal items. Insurance is not included in the tour price, and while we do everything possible to ensure a smooth experience, we cannot take responsibility for unexpected events beyond our control.
What languages are the tours conducted in?
At present, all tours are conducted in English. We plan to introduce tours in other languages soon — including Spanish, French and Chinese — as we expand our destinations and vendor network.
I have a disability. Will your tours be suitable?
In most cases our tours can accommodate travellers with disabilities, and we'll always do our best to ensure accessibility. However, because many food tours take place in traditional markets, narrow streets or older neighbourhoods, some routes may present challenges. Before booking, contact us at info@asiastreeteats.com to confirm whether a specific tour is suitable for your needs.
Are your tours suitable for families with children?
Most of our tours welcome families and children. Child pricing and age limits vary by tour. Some experiences, especially those involving alcohol tastings, are adults-only. Each tour page specifies whether children are allowed and under what conditions. If unsure, email us at info@asiastreeteats.com.
What happens if it's raining?
Under most circumstances tours continue even if the weather isn't ideal. If a tour must be cancelled due to extreme or unsafe conditions, your guide or vendor will contact you directly to arrange alternatives or a refund.
I'm going to be late for the departure time. What should I do?
We suggest arriving at the meeting point early. To respect other guests, guides generally wait up to 10 minutes for late arrivals before starting. If you're running late, contact your guide directly using the contacts in your confirmation email to arrange a later meeting point along the tour. Refunds cannot be provided for missed tours due to lateness.
Can I change the date of my booking?
If you'd like to change your tour date, email us at info@asiastreeteats.com and we'll do our best to help. Date changes depend on availability and must be requested outside the cancellation period for your tour (48 hours before the scheduled start time).
What if I have a problem during the tour?
If something unexpected happens, please contact the local vendor first — they can usually resolve most issues on the spot. Their contact details are in your confirmation email. If the problem isn't resolved, email us at info@asiastreeteats.com and we'll step in to help.
Where does Asia Street Eats operate?
We currently feature food tours across Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and beyond, with new destinations added regularly. Our goal is to highlight the best of Asia's street food, markets and culinary traditions, all through trusted local experts who know their city inside out.
Do you offer private or custom experiences?
Yes — many tours can be booked privately, and we can help arrange custom food experiences for special occasions or groups. Tell us what you're craving via the form above or at info@asiastreeteats.com and we'll build something around it.
