Wander Lijiang's lantern-lit Old Town after dark — 5+ Naxi tastings through Zhongyi Market and Huama Food Street, from Lijiang baba to crossing-the-bridge noodles.
Photos are indicative — the dishes served may vary.
When the lanterns come on over Lijiang's Old Town and the day-trippers thin out, the night markets fill with the smell of the grill — and this small-group evening walk takes you straight into them, led by a local who eats here.
Over about three hours you'll graze through more than five Naxi specialities, from a warming cured-pork-rib hotpot to Lijiang baba (a thick sweet-or-savoury flatbread), grilled rubing 'milk fan' cheese with rose-petal jam, and Yunnan's famous crossing-the-bridge rice noodles.
Your guide threads you through Zhongyi Market and Huama Food Street — the corners where Naxi families actually shop and eat — sharing the stories behind the customs and the ingredients along the way.
Between bites you'll catch views of the illuminated ancient-town rooftops and pick up the local dining etiquette that turns a meal here into a window on Naxi culture.
It's a relaxed, walking food crawl with a small group, a cup of Pu'er tea and plenty to taste — the most local way to spend an evening in Lijiang. Come hungry.
